10 Days of Science
The Bay Area Science Festival is happening right now and they have an amazing series of events lined up between now and November 6th. There are too many incredible events to list them but I will provide links and hopefully encourage a few of you to check it out. The kids are sure to love it.
Saturday, October 29th:
- Insecta-Palooza: This anthropod extravaganza at Sonoma State has something for everyone. This year’s theme is Metamorphosis with interactive exhibits, engaging activities and seminars with bugs, bugs and more bugs to explore a broad swath of entomology.
- Explore What you Eat: Hands on Science at East Bay Farmers Markets – Phatbeets Produce today and at Temescal Market tomorrow.
- Discovery Days at Cal State East Bay – I just can’t highlight what an incredible event this is going to be. Chemistry magic show, observing the sun with a telescope, psychology playground, math puzzles, fossil casting, and much much more. This event is from 11a.m. – 4p.m.
- Public Astronomy @ the Robert Ferguson Observatory – if you are closer to Santa Rosa than Hayward this may be a great site for you. Solar viewing and the PlanetWalk are free from 12-4. Night viewing has a small fee from 7-10pm.
- Hawk Talk & Banding Demonstration – for those of you in the North Bay. Up close view of the fall raptor migration with the Golden Gate Raptor Observatory at Hawk Hill in the Marin Headlands.
- Climate Change…Fact or Fiction? Don’t miss this opportunity to get the 411 on the greatest debate of our lifetime. What’s going on with the Earth’s thermostat?
The events continue throughout the week with another amazing event planned as the grand finale at AT&T park on November 6th.
